SALT

This is a recent body of work commissioned by Cork County Council under the Creative Ireland scheme — This project explores ideas of liminality with reference to borders both within landscape & cultural identity. David is an audio visual artist based in Cork for the last 25 years and Hina is a visual artist of Pakistani heritage who came to Ireland as a refugee. Both David’s and Hina’s work has a history of addressing this theme.

Mainly black and white with occasional subtle washes of luminous colour; Lighting and multichannel video and sound present images of storytelling and story gathering - It is intended that the whole gallery becomes a journey through the many enigmatic aspects of Samhain (Halloween), a modern digital environment that works in ancient almost organic ways to evoke mystery and magic.

WITH DR JOHN MC SHARRY INFECTIOUS COLLECTION SCIENCE GALLERY DUBLIN 2009 As humans we tend to think of ourselves as single entities, unaware in the main of the numerous organisms that live in symbiosis with us. This project is designed to portray the human body and in particular the gut as an ancient landscape populated by indigenous beings and constantly under threat from frightful alien hordes.

WITH TOM GREEN DRAIOCHT DUBLIN 2009 In 2006 David Bickley, Irish-based filmmaker, electronic composer and video artist (Hrper[borea], Alchemy Electronic Arts) got together with Tom Green, London-based composer (The Orb, Another Fine Day) to produce the LP Erebus & Terror. This trully spooky ambient affair, released by HS, quickly became a cult classic but what the fans didn’t know is that the album was written as the soundtrack to a imaginary film based on an expanded account of John Frank
